Moving times

Sorry to have missed a couple of Monday mornings over the last weeks.  My time has been taken up with our move from Spain to a village near to Guildford.  In spite of arriving to driving snow and freezing temperatures we are feeling very positive about the move.

Mallorca offered a lot, in the end the two elements that really stand out are the amazing friends we have made there, wonderful inspiring and loving people and the weather.  The weather, we were expecting, but I think the people were something of a surprise.  They are a diverse bunch, from all over the world, but share an ambition to put quality of life ahead of other criteria in life – at least for a time.

These are friends we will have for life.  They are fellow travellers on a similar life path to us.  Our paths coincided for a while and they will coincide again.  We are looking forward to it.

In the end time away from family with work and travel and a nagging concern that secondary education was just not going to be good enough have brought us to England.  It is fun coming back and appreciating so much of what we took for granted before.  Even in March England is pretty, the customer service is amazing, internet shopping has advanced massively, choice in shops is fantastic and everyone is so friendly and helpful.  For those who grumble about these things in Britain, try somewhere else!

Normal Monday morning service will resume when I have recovered from the move and we are properly settled in. For now, it may be a little patchy.

Wishing you all happiness in your new home. And it’s so lovely to hear such positive feedback about being in the UK! Hope you don’t miss the weather too much and your work takes off.

Welcome back Neil, When we moved to the USA we missed the UK. I think it’s beneficial to everyone to move out of the country for a period of time as the UK isn’t as bad as people think, we have it pretty good here!
